4 Things to Do to Give to Others

For some of us, giving is a natural part of our lives.  For others, it takes a little bit of work.  What can you do this week to grow in generosity?  Check out these 4 things that you can do this week to give to others.

  1. Notice needs.  If you fail to notice needs, you will never see opportunities for generosity.   If you begin to notice needs, you see that many times a day that you can give yourself to others.
  2. See your resources.  Once you notice needs, check to see what you have to share with someone.  Do they need an encouraging word?  Do they need help?  Do they need money?  You can help based on what you have.
  3. Get intentional.  Don't just wait for giving opportunities to come your way.  Set some money aside to give at church.  Worship God through your giving.  Start where you can and keep growing in generosity.
  4. Be prayerful.  As you give yourself, your talents, your resources, or your money to someone, be prayerful and ask God to use what you give to benefit and bless the person.  Even as you give, never forget that the blessing comes from His work through our gift.

But since you excel in everything--in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you --see that you also excel in this grace of giving. 2 Corinthians 8:7
