Every phase of parenting brings it's fun and it's challenges. When our kids were babies, we loved experiencing the many "firsts" of their lives. From first birthdays to first steps to first days at preschool, these were exciting times. As they grew, put on their first backpack and headed to school, the joy of parenting continued. They joined teams, did homework, and made friends. In these days, we got a glimpse of who they would be today. Now, as teens, we get the privilege of releasing them into their future. Some fear the teenage years. We don't. Even on the tough days, the teen years are when we see how we have lead our kids and how God is shaping their future.
In a few weeks, Kristi and I will be sharing with parents as a part of the "Next" weekend event. We will be very real and share what we are learning as parents who want their kids to honor God. Here are the highlights.
In a few weeks, Kristi and I will be sharing with parents as a part of the "Next" weekend event. We will be very real and share what we are learning as parents who want their kids to honor God. Here are the highlights.
- Parenting is full time work in every phase.
- God's plan for our kid's lives is better than our plan for our kid's lives.
- Social media and smart phones have forever changed how our kids relate with each other and see themselves.
- Our kid's perspective of time is very short.
- Our kids need us to learn how to build healthy relationships.
If you are the parent of JH or HS students, register your kids for Next and join me and Kristi at the parent gathering.
