Canton Update

We got our first taste of the Stone yesterday and it was great. We met up with Gary and his team yesterday afternoon. Even though we had never met face to face, our common passion for seeing Jesus' church thrive bonded us immediately. We spent three energy filled hours bouncing questions back and forth at each other. Our team took pages of notes on doing church in a theater. Gary's team picked up some things from us on doing church in multiple locations.

Two observations from our time so far: First, Gary and his team do things right. Somehow, someway, they are able to produce excellent, creative services on what some would call a shoestring budget. What is their secret? My opinion - God is honoring their sacrifice big time and is providing for them what they can't provide for themselves. Second, we can and will do MBC and Frontline campuses in movie theaters. Our biggest mental block to this has been: what do we do with kids? Well, we may have discovered some big time solutions. More on that later...

I am fired up to see what happens today. There will be 20 other churches gathering with us for a very informal, discussion oriented day of learning. Multiple our conversations last night by 10 and that is what we get today...I'm pumped.

This is really exciting stuff Mike. Movie theaters make sense on many levels (though can't wait to hear what you do with the kids).
